Home of the Wraithguard An Ostermark Guild
Categories: From the desk of the guild leader

It’s nice to see the guild roster filling back up again.  Warhammer definitely lost a huge number of players when the Lich King hit and we felt it a bit in our line up.  People have started trickling back in, but I think we could use a few more folks online to group with.  The Alliance helps, but I would ask all members to not hesitate about recruiting new people to join our ranks.  Keep in mind our charter.  We have a pretty good core group, so let’s make sure we bring in more like minded individuals.

On a side note, I busted my thumb to the point where I had to get it X-Rayed, so I will probably be out for a couple days.

Happy Holidays!

We’ve been having issues with certain players not being heard on our TeamSpeak server, so I have switched our voice server of choice to Ventrilo.  You can find the connection info by clicking on “Wraithguard Ventrilo Server” to the right.

In order to better co-ordinate activities with our allies, we have now have access to an alliance Ventrilo server.  Each guild has its own individual channel, but there are also channels dedicated to rvr and individual groups that you can hop in when you like.  See this page for more info: http://wraithguard.net/?page_id=144

Today the Knight of the Blazing Sun arrives.  I am sure we will have plenty of people looking to try it out.  I’ll be on from around 7:45 Pacific as either Aerioch or Aerich to add any new alts people make.

This Friday and Saturday night, we will have running alliance warbands for the tier 3 and tier 4 RvR areas.  Look at your in game calendar for the times.  I will post the warband leaders here by Friday morning.

Update:  It’s been a slow week around the halls of Wraithguard.

Chaele and Gaereth will be logged in and forming groups for the OpenRvR.  Due to my crazy Pacific Standard Time, I will be in a little later.

Ok now that we’ve all got our feet wet and are figuring out who we are in the realm of Ostermark, its time to think a little about what we want to do as a guild. We seem to be good at pick up groups within the guild, but I’m sure some folks wouldn’t mind some scheduled events.  Keep in mind that given the nature of who we are as a guild, none of the events we finally decide on will be mandatory.

So first, let’s figure out what people actually want to do. Pick your top 2.

What is interesting to you?

Once we figure out what we want to do, let’s take a look at how we schedule it. Pick your top 3 choices in this one.

As we all start to level there are a couple tools that should be used to help improve the overall experience of grouped content.

The first one is TeamSpeak.  This is absolutely key for RvR scenarios.  If you don’t have a mic or just don’t feel like talking, you are welcome to listen in.  Given the fast pace of most scenarios, we don’t have a lot of time to type out communications.  The teamspeak client is free and can be downloaded here.

Another tool that should be used is ISAssistTracker.  This will create a small window (that can be moved just like any other UI element) that lists the Main and Off tanks for a party.  All you have to do is click on the appropriate name in the window and you will select that target.  One thing I have noticed about good Destruction teams is that they are very good at concentrating their attacks.  We definitely need that level of co-ordination in our scenarios.  This addon can be found here.

Well, we definitely started the weekend off with a bang.  Our first official guild “Open Field RvR” night found us recapturing 5 keeps from Destruction!  For our first capture, it was all Wraithguard and a couple of our friends from the Oath Friends.  It took us a couple starts to get the technique down, but once we did, we ripped right through it.  Word of our capture spread like wildfire and at the next few keeps we saw more and more forces of Order there to take up the fight.

Many thanks to Chaele and Gaereth for rounding everyone up and giving us a direction.

Great job everyone, you all did us proud!

Just as in tier two the tracker armor set was available  in tier 2, tier 3 has whimsical bounties for you to acquire as well.  To acquire the aforementioned fabled items you will have to perform much of the same operations as before, kill 20 of a certain player type, then kill a hero.

For the details on this set, please see the write up in the “Guild Tools” section.

As the game matures, we’ll see more and more mods released.  Everyone should really install the Curse client.  This will not only collect game data to feed into WarDB, it will also provide an interface to update current mods as well as let you check out new mods.

Currently I’m running Little Black Book to keep track of opponents in RvR and QuickSwap to swap from 2 hander to sword and board.  Erasureh just pointed out a new mod called “Scenario Join All Button”.  Care to guess what that one does?  All of these mods can be installed and updated through the Curse client.

I’d like for folks to post their favorite mods in the comments section of this post.

Update: Just found a mod for adding an assist window.  This should be key for folks in a party.  Want to kill that pesky healer in RvR?  Just click on the MT button and assist away! (Get it here)
